A Little About Our Building

Welcome to Castlebar Christian Fellowship, situated here on the green in Castlebar.
It’s regarded as one of the oldest building in town having special links with John Wesley the famous 18th Century Christian leader and founder of Methodism and also a frequent visitor to Castlebar. The foundation stone for the building was dedicated by Wesley on May 21st 1785, and seemingly this is the only building on the Island of Ireland to have this unique ‘hands on’ link with Wesley. The people at that time placed a memorial stone above the front door to record the event.
Today the building houses our congregation, “Castlebar Christian Fellowship” an Elim Pentecostal Church. Our Congregation is predominantly made up of local people from Mayo but also includes people from many different nations and reflects the diversity of contemporary Ireland.
